It's all over now...

Ali is pretty sure she needs a big kid bed. She found Tre's. When I first went in, he had her all tucked in. She was giggling. Then he had the nerve to get into her shot. Hence the following picture.
Giggles returned. Once I put the camera away, they were off and onto something new. I think it was a pillow house.
It was PINK day for G today. Talk about tough choices. Most of this kid's wardrobe is pink. She opted away from her new outfit and plans (yes, she plans what she'll wear) to wear it Friday for "Favorite Color Day." Instead, it's her favorite hot pink/fushia-ish dress. I know we're all shocked that she'd choose a dress. ;)

Green Day (8/23)

This post is late...migraine then. Migraine still.

Anyway...Giuliana surprised me by having her outfit all planned out ahead of time. As it was, I was a tad worried that she didn't have anything to wear for "green day." This is a girl that knows her wardrobe.

It only made sense to "coordinate" shirts with big sissy.

This shot ended up upside down. I thought it was sweet. Tre had come upstairs all dressed. I thought for sure it meant he wanted to go outside and wait with G. Nope, he was under the weather.

A side note- Tre did end up changing into his Barcelona shirt as well. It was completely without prompting on my part. So, they coordinated for Walmart. :)

A new day...

I love how resilient kids are.

G came off the bus today with the biggest smile. I am so proud of her. Apparently a couple of the older boys that teased her last year were at it again today. She said she just ignored the boy kicking her seat, etc and his friend made him stop. (Last year, said kid spit on her.)
I asked about the girls- ie. did she sit in a different spot. She excitedly told me that no, she told them they hurt her feelings. AND, they didn't want to do that again and were nice.

I know things are going to happen. That's life. I just love that she used her tools. Last night, I gave her a verse to tell herself. Today, we talked about forgiveness and how cool it is.

She's sitting, eating her snack and doing her homework. My baby girl really is growing up.

The littles and I went to the Y as we always do. Thankfully, no fits going in or out. Ali apparently really likes pat-a-cake and kept putting her hands out and saying "AGAIN" each time they stopped. Tre loves going to play with his "friends." He makes sure to say good bye to anyone he's been playing with. Today, it didn't look like many kids there. He was sitting, watching something when I got there. My guess is a movie of some sort.

I can't wait for Tre's preschool to start. He's going to love having the same friends to play with, on schedule. I forget how social he can be.

Mean Girls

GRRRRR! The Mama Bear in me has been awakened.

G was teased on the bus today. Mean girls on the bus- one of whom she talked about all last year- told her how her she and her skirt weren't pretty.

I honestly haven't seen her cry like that in a long time. It hurt my heart to see my baby hurt like that.

We talked about ways to handle it tomorrow- stand up to them- "That's not true and I don't have to listen to you" and ignore them.

After she cried about it, she says "Mom, they obviously don't understand the I CARE rules." She then explained how people who do know that other people's feelings matter. I was proud of her. Oh, and when later I said, "so did you learn anything on the bus today?" She says "ofcourse, you treat others how you want to be treated." That's my girl.

Just G!

It was "Blue Day" today. I know it'll shock all y'all (see, I speak redneck), but she wore her blue top and floral skirt. I swear to you (another redneck), she'll take any excuse to wear that skirt. Which is ok, it's cute.

Bigger news, we FINALLY have a loose tooth. She is so excited. It seems like she's the last kid to actually start losing teeth. It is the bottom right of the front 2.

This morning, while waiting for the bus, she had to bid her sibs goodbye about 4 times. Tre still complained that he didn't get to say goodbye or that she didn't wave.

First day of 1st Grade

I'm sure it will surprise no one to learn there was much prancing and primping this morning. Being such a big girl, she insisted upon breakfast drink, rather than cereal. I am surprised that she chose the white shirt over the pink one. Butterflies apparently trump pink today (you can't see it in the pics, but there's a bling butterfly on the front).

No, I don't think she knows the backpack is about as big as she is. :)

There was much hugging and cheesing. You'd think she was leaving for more than all day school. lol

This last one speaks for itself. My baby done did grow up.

Well Children...

Poor doctor...all three had appointments today. No, don't worry, nobody's sick. "Well exams" for school and such. The girls got shots and Tre, not wanting to be left out, ask for one. Ali didn't even seem to notice her shot. In fact, she didn't cry until Giuliana completely freaked out with her's.

Ok, so it was all very clear, Giuliana has the smart aleck gene- directly descended from Grandpa Fiat. I mentioned to the doc that it appeared she was having difficulty hearing lately and I wasn't sure if it was acute parent deafness or something else. So she says "Giuliana, are you having a hard time hearing your mom?" G smirks and says "No, I just like making my mom repeat everything." I kid you not. Verbatim.
Here they all are recovering from their morning. Nothing like a little "Happy Feet" and goldfish.

Olde Towne

This shot of Giuliana is my favorite of the day. I had the camera set and called her name. Is that the most infectious smile?

I don't know that I've ever heard Ali giggle quite like she did today. In this shot, she was posing. She'd seen the camera and started flipping her skirt around and saying "cheese!"
While I no clue where this "pose" came from, it was quite important to Tre that I have it on film. He kept coming over to make sure I'd photographed the important things to him...his hands, his belly, etc. He can thank me later as I fixed a little "plumber in training" issue as well. ;)

Proving once again...

...the he is the fun parent, Angelo set up dual sprinklers with the swingset.

I'm sure it'll shock everyone to learn this wasn't the first or the only time Tre took over the sprinkler.

Apparently this was a well rehearsed "practice dance move." At least that's what Giuliana told me when we looked at the pictures. :)

As seen in our backyard...

I honestly couldn't tell you what this bird is, but we see them all the time in the "lake" behind us. I don't however see them in our backyard. Not surprisingly, I spooked it when I went out to take pics. These were taken yesterday, 8/10/07.

No, I haven't forgotten...

I haven't forgotten how to blog, really. Ali is just really really busy which makes me really really tired. Not to mention, I went into "Super D.O." yesterday and had just about my entire spine put back in, along with a few ribs. I'm a little on the sore side today.

We're thinking about hitting a movie at the cheap theater or maybe one of the splash pads around town. I'll admit, I'm all for the a/c. :)

Pint Size Help

If not for "help" what would I do with myself?

We obviously made it through yesterday. Nothing like an after dinner trip to the library. Being the smart mommy, I had placed holds on a couple movies. Between getting to pick a couple books to borrow and knowing we were going home to watch movies, you'da thought we hit the power ball. That and a trip to Walmart where I got to be the lady with a screaming toddler that everyone glared at. Yes, because it really helps to glare at someone who is already having a clearly yucky night. Tre was apparently under the impression he needed to manage Ali.

Ali has new milestones! Please (sounds like seize) and thank you (tay-do). She's also very into "OUT!" "Don't" and "No" as well. She loves to color like the big kids and gives new meaning to the word busy. She's so different than the other 2. Seriously, at this age, Giuliana would sit and color for at least 30 minutes (I know, not normal).

Tre was mesmerized with the borrowed Bob the Builder dvd...all done now. He's making me placemats at the art table now. Would it surprise you to learn Ali has green hands from the ink pad? Normally, stamping is reserved for while she's sleeping. We apparently forgot to put it away.

Giuliana just finished her computer time for the morning. I can't believe how good she's gotten navigating in such a short amount of time. Her hand eye coordination is also improving. She loves doing online jigsaw puzzles and is really good at them. Her reading is also still coming along nicely. She's in the habit of asking what everything says, but when the tables are turned back to her, she can read just about any sign to me. She still needs a little help here and there with combinations, but for the most part, she's dead on. Pretty good for going into first grade if you ask me. :)

I need more coffee...

"Oh NO, you DIDN'T just..."

Yeah, locking doors on kids' rooms. Smaaarrrrttt! I've been meaning to change them. They just haven't been an issue up to this point. Well, in typical little brother form, Tre wanted Giuliana's attention. She's in a time out on the couch and he locks her door and promptly walks out.

I have some great tools in my arsenal. Really, top notch. Do any of them work to pick the lock? According to Angelo, it's a nature vs nurture thing and I'm just too WASPy. :P

What a big brother...

Tre was working on the computer, when Ali decided she really wanted to see what was going on. Not missing a beat, he hoisted her up on his lap and called me over. :)

Little Chefs (taken 8/2)

Tre made his very first PB&J sandwich. We worked together and he was so incredibly proud (yes, I cut the sandwich).
Giuliana perfected her skills ofcourse and wished for no assistance.
Then there's Ali- banana = gourmet. I am no longer allowed to take out the camera without taking a pic of her.

We're back...blog's behind...

We're back from a weekend in Overland Park. I have pics from last week to post and will get to them as soon as I can. We went to FIL's company picnic today. Aside from fantastic company, it was pretty cool to see a Chinook helicopter up close. :)

Travel Bug race has a winner!

That would be Tre! :)

I'm thinkin' next time we need better rules. His bug was mailed from Salina to a guy here. And, oddly all 5 bugs traveled together to Salina. What's up with that? Again, they need more tagging- they were all just placed with the metal dog tags, no descriptions of the race of anything.

Angelo is going to email the guy that mailed Bug's bug and find out just how he chose the winner.

It was all fun and Tre will be thrilled that he won. Guess next time we should figure out a prize as well. :)
