Catching up with Tonya & the Kids, 7/3

One of the greatest things about being back home was catching up with good friends. :)

Tonya and I have been friends for quite awhile. We met when Trevelyan wasabout 2 1/2(?) at a MOMS group.

We were due for a playdate "morning-ish." Not surprising, it turned into a lunch date.

Lots o'pictures, because I can. ;)

We did the group with the oldest in the middle first. Then lined them up by age.

After the sitting picture in age order, Tonya says "oh, let's put them in a train!" Ok, totally cute idea. The idea was to put your hands on the person in front of you's waist and turn your head to look at the camera.

Here's what we got (and so appropriate for them all):

Falling forward...

And back...

Giving "loves" before we left turned into this, along with a lot of giggling. Al is ofcourse off to the right and in need of a nap.

And ofcourse, a picture of Tonya and I. Giuliana did a pretty good job for her first time with my camera. Yes, that would be a lifeguard tan I'm sportin'. I use lots 'o sunscreen too. :P

Then there's Tre...

At KidsZone today while checking in, he looks up and says "Mom, did Gramma fall off the other side of the earff?" I told him I didn't know and maybe he should call her.

Later on, he and G were doing Fuzebeads. Working together no less. He then pops out with "Giuliana, I love you. I just sometimes forget to use my words."

Boy is he growing up. We're going big boy bed shopping this weekend. He's finally willing to let his toddler bed go. Good thing too since he's at the edge of being short enough...Daddy says too big. ;)

Boulder Cache Across America- 6/29

I thought perhaps I could link to an explanation of Cache Across America. Here's what was in their forums. It will not surprise you that he's picked up a few. ;) Just wait, he'll comment here...he can't resist.

"So wouldn't it be cool if there was a 50 state multi-cache? You know, a cache with a waypoint in each and every one of the 50 states. It would be the granddaddy of all multis and would be a long-term target of only the truly obsessed. It would be something that would take years to collect the stages of."

The Colorado cache did not disappoint. This was just outside Boulder, in the mountains ofcourse.

As I saw climbers, I had to photograph this wall. Oh, my. Uhm, no. My fear of heights could not and will not be overcome to climb such as this. The thing it captured that I loved the most was the color. I didn't edit that picture other than to crop it down for the web. The sky really was that blue. Now, if I were gonna go all safety patrol, I'd mention the lack of protective head gear on any of the climbers we saw...I said IF. ;)

Since I was a little on the paranoid side of the rushing water, the kids could come out one by one, WITH me, holding on to them. Al was first. She decided that no, she did not want to sit on the pretty rock. Probably because she knew she'd have to get back into the car. She loved getting to touch the river water and seemed surprised at how cold it was.

Yes, the look of thrill on Giuliana's face was there the whole time she was out of the car. If I'd have allowed, she would have gone to fetch the cache with Angelo. It involved going across a rock slanted toward the water. Not high on my comfort level for her.

Tre was patient, singing along with his MP3 player until it was finally his turn. He cracked us up to no end with his singing along (think U2 Bloody Sunday and him singing what he thinks are the words) and making a fleet of paper airplanes (he's really quite talented). Since Daddy was done with the cache, they took a little more of a walk than the girls and I did. Which ofcourse was fine- I got great pictures. I cropped out a bit of the scenery on this one.

Kids Kamp 2008- 6/27

Ok, yeah, I know, it's misspelled. And yes, it drives me a little nuts. However, it was a blast!

I volunteered to work and told them my "skill" areas and was placed in scrapbooking. I loved every minute. Not only did I have an awesome team of ladies to work with, the kids were amazing.
Giuliana chose scrapbooking and photogaphy. I know, shocking. ;) I think her favorite part of the week might have been learning to use my personal trimmer. She came home with both a photo album from her photography class and a little scrapbook. It was also great to see her interacting with new friends.

Tre chose T Ball and Soccer. His agility tends to surprise me...he totally doesn't get that from me. I was extra proud of him here because he had just come back on the field after getting beaned in the face while fielding. I was extremely grateful that his coach (on the right) is a nurse. Tre won the ticket drawing during large group twice. Go memory verses! (Each time they said their verse, they were awarded a ticket. 3 tries a day.)

Then there's Al. Al was fortunate in that the 2's were kind of absorbed into the 3's class. They had Bible stories and coordinating crafts daily. This one was when they did the walls of Jerico- the noise makers. They also marched around painted cardboard boxes and got to knock them down. She was very serious with her crafting and totally ticked off that I was pulling her early that day to go to work.

The Bigs strike again...

They're on a "happy UN-birthday" kick. So, ofcourse, Ali has picked it up. Today, she's convinced it's her birthday. Uhm, yeah. When someone who shall remain nameless says "Happy un-BIRTHDAY, AL!" All the 2 year old brain hears is "Happy BIRTHDAY AL!"

Another tidbit for the morning...somehow Giuliana picked up the saying "think skinny thoughts" when going through tight areas. Uhm, anyone seen my child? The child sometimes referred to as "Skinny Minnie No Butt." She's in stripping her bed and telling the Littles how she has to be skinny minnie for a minute. lol

Prepare for a large dose of blogarehhea (thanks for the term N). There is much updating to be done and lots of fun pictures. :)
